#Summer #Inspiration

So many books. So little time. I’ve gone through more than I’ve listed on the About Me page recently and some so quickly, I can barely remember the story details. That’s ok. Going screen-less, feeling an actual book, turning pages has become my bedtime ritual. It’s feeding my imagination and encouraging the storyteller inside me – get the words on the page!

So what else is going on in the land of No Shrinking Violet? I’m taking the ReelArc class and loving it! Steven and Guy are great, and I can’t wait to get into the “behind the camera” info they’ll teaching. I’m going to see A Doll’s House, Part 2 this weekend. I’ve got a couple of workshops this week. Overall, a good start to the summer.

#ActorsLife #NewDramatist

Going to a reading at New Dramatist – THE EXECUTIONER’S DAUGHTER by Wendy Kesselman. Such a joy and an inspiration to hear new plays in development. Encourages me to get out what is swirling around inside.

(As does reliving Messi’s 500th goal and Masche’s first!)

This week’s #LineUp.

Today – audition for short film in the genre of horror – always a good time!  Then to the Atlantic Theater Company to see David Mamet’s The Penitent.

Wednesday – boot camp class

Thursday – Terry Schreiber Studio to see Loose Ends by Michael Weller, directed by Terry Schreiber

Friday – scene work

Saturday – casting director workshop

Oh, and watching a few world cup qualifying matches scattered in the mix.

Practice. Practice. Practice.

What do these guys do? How do you get to Carnegie Hall? What should every artist, in every field, do constantly? I think it’s more difficult for actors because we are not part of a *team*. We don’t necessarily have a squad or a manager or physios surrounding us, encouraging us, forcing us to put our best selves out there. But we can still do it – make the effort to read that new play, self-tape your monologue and watch it, go to the theatre. Connect with your fellow actors. And above all, be proud of what you do and who you are.

Live your Life on Purpose

I had to share that statement – I feel it’s that important. Those five words hit me in the face, not unlike what happened to Marc-Andre ter Stagen yesterday during the Barça v Bilbao match. Ouch. Credit where credit is due:  I’m reading “You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero, only up to page 46, but that is the page I found this gem.

Do you want to set up a new business? Don’t be afraid to move forward. If money is an issue, you can avail of small loans for bad credit UK or on in the US just to help get your started. These are mostly offered online. (Of course, you need to be sure you can pay it back). Take a proacive step.

Living your Life on Purpose. Not by accident. Not by chance. Or a whim. Or whatever other non-focused manner you are stumbling through this performance that is your Life. Do it on Purpose!

Thank You!

To the very kind woman at the train station who told me to never give up and keep pursuing my passion, my dream, what makes me happy. You gave me a much-needed boost when I really needed it. Thank you!IMG_3109 (1)
